Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 20.4 billion devices will be connected to the internet worldwide by 2020. The explosion of the Internet of Things or “IoT” ecosystem of the interconnectedness of objects, devices, software and sensors impacts businesses, consumers, the courts and cases. PLDO Partner Brian J. Lamoureux, a national authority on social and digital media law, recently addressed the topic as a featured speaker at the Rhode Island Judiciary’s 2017 Fall Judicial Conference and was a guest author on the topic in Providence Business News, "Weighing the risks and benefits of the Internet of Things."
