BUSINESS JOURNAL PUBLISHES SERIES ON EUÕS GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION BY PARTNER BRIAN J. LAMOUREUX

Cybercrime vulnerabilities exist if your company has a website, sells products or services through the internet or shares information via e-newsletters or other digital methods that requires the collection of personal information. The pervasive use of digital communications across industries and countries has caused cybersecurity to be a worldwide priority for business owners. The stakes to protect data became even greater for owners on May 25, 2018 when the European Union (EU) implemented its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which impacts businesses regardless of whether an organization is in the EU or the US. Violators of the far-reaching law may be fined Û20 million or 4% of their companyÕs annual revenue, whichever is greater.

To help business owners understand the GDPR and make appropriate changes to their online policies and cyber security plans where needed, Providence Business News and PLDO teamed up to publish a series of informative articles by PLDO Partner Brian J. Lamoureux. Attorney Lamoureux is a prominent business litigator and cyber and employment law attorney who is a national voice on social and digital media law. As a frequent guest speaker, published author and broadcast commentator on the subjects, he has appeared on WPRI-TV, WJAR-TV, WPRO-AM and NECN-TV.
