The pervasive use of digital communications across industries and countries has caused cybersecurity to be a worldwide priority for business owners. The stakes to protect data became even greater for owners on May 25, 2018 when the European Union (EU) implemented its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which impacts businesses regardless of whether an organization is in the EU or the US. Violators of the far-reaching law may be fined Û20 million or 4% of their companyÕs annual revenue, whichever is greater.
